Ah, summer—the season of sun, sand, and a total manufacturing execution system (MES) makeover! Our client approached us with a scorching hot challenge—creating a fresh MES interface, logo, and name to go with it in the blink of an eye (well, a month, but that’s practically the same in agency time). So, we did what any sensible team would do: We turned the AC to “Ice Age,” grabbed our metaphorical mojitos (no worries, we don’t drink on the job!), and leaped into the fray with a grin.
Masterplan
Challenge Accepted!
We dove in by crafting a complete brand identity. This began with a sleek logo and a memorable name inspired by the majestic koru—a New Zealand silver fern symbolizing new beginnings, growth, and strength. Its tightly coiled center, gradually unfurling into vibrant new leaves, was a perfect image for the streamlined and intuitive experience we had in mind for KORUMES. Plus, it sounds way cooler than Manufacturing Software Suite 4.0.
Evolution
Back to the Basics
Delving into UX/UI design and prototyping, it became clear that while MES systems are powerful, they can also feel like a confusing maze. Our client needed something different—a tool that said, “I’m here to make your life easier.” So, we ditched the complexity and went back to basics to focus on what users truly need: streamlined workflows, clear features, and a crisp, app-like experience you could almost navigate blindfolded (but seriously, don’t do that—safety first!).
Legacy
Our Midsummer’s Night MES
KORUMES was our 2023 summer triumph. We accepted the complex challenge and dug deep into our creative bag of magic tricks to deliver a streamlined, branded answer while racing against the clock. Turns out that pressure isn’t just good for making diamonds; it’s also great for turning a hot MES into a cool solution!
